Looking for a bluebird day mystery?
What’s a bluebird day? It’s the bright and clear day that follows a dark and stormy night.
Picture perfect conditions at the top of a ski slope the morning after a night of snow, a brilliant cobalt sky overhead and glittering white landscape below. Or a crisp autumn afternoon in the mountains, where yellow aspen leaves tremble in a cool breeze and tumble like gold coins from the blue heavens. Bluebird days inspire a sense of wellbeing — not to mention an eagerness to take on challenges, push limits and seize opportunities.
Metaphorical bluebird days constitute an important part of mystery writing. They follow metaphorical dark and stormy nights — the murders that yank readers into stories at the onset. Then begins the process in which sleuths figure out who done it and bring villains to justice. Stakes mount and lives change.
For now, I’m glad you’re visiting. I’m grateful for your company along my journey to write and publish novels. I’m eager to share with you some insights into the writing process as well as information about my passions for journalism, history and scuba diving. It’s a conversation, though. Not a lecture. I hope you’ll share your thoughts, ideas and interests. By all means, let’s talk. We could be in for some dark and stormy nights. But bluebird days always prevail. — P.M. Castle
